I feel that using pastels helped bring out the textured strokes, adding a bit of warmth and movement to the image. I tried to capture a quiet intensity through the glasses and thoughtful gaze. The wrinkles, white beard, and highlights are my attempt to reflect a life touched by both joy and hardship, with a sense of soul.
