This portrait was all about capturing energy - not just how Minnie looks, but how she feels. Using bold pastel strokes and vibrant colour to bring movement, texture and personality into the portrait. Rather than smoothing things out, I let the marks stay expressive to reflect the spirit of our pets: lively, emotional and full of character. Creating pet portraits is my way of celebrating the unique presence and soul of each companion.

I tried to capture her as gently and honestly as I could with her softness, her quiet gaze, and the calm presence she seems to carry. I found myself returning again and again to her eyes, and the small shifts of light through her fur.
