In this portrait, I experimented with colour and texture to explore the emotional layers of the subject. Strokes of orange, blue, yellow, and deep purple move across the face and hair, which I hoped might hint at the depth and richness of a life lived. The hand near the chin adds a quiet moment of pause, contributing to the introspective mood. There’s a rhythm in the marks that, to me, felt almost musical at times, and the softness of pastel helped create a more tactile, human quality.
